Workshop on working safely with data
Practical training for everyday users — passwords, phishing, backups and what to do with a suspicious e-mail.
The most common way an attacker gets into a company is not a sophisticated hack. It is an e-mail someone clicks on, or a password used in five places at once. Firewalls and antivirus matter, but the last line of defence is always the person at the computer.
That is why we created a workshop for regular employees, not IT specialists. Over the past year we have run it for accounting firms, construction companies, distributors and non-profit organisations.
Workshop programme
The workshop takes 2.5 hours and is adapted to the size of the team and the industry. Core content:
1. What an attack looks like today (30 min) Real phishing e-mails and text messages we have caught at clients (anonymised). Fake invoices, "supplier bank account change" requests, fake Microsoft 365 sign-ins and parcel-delivery texts.
2. Passwords and signing in (30 min) Why one strong password everywhere is not enough, how to use a password manager and why multi-factor authentication is the cheapest protection you can have. We help participants set it up on the spot.
3. Data and backups (30 min) Where to store company files, why not on the desktop or a private USB stick, and how to share a document with an outside person safely. What to do when you accidentally delete an important file.
4. Working outside the office (20 min) Public Wi-Fi, shared computers, a phone as a work device and what to do if a laptop is lost.
5. When something happens (20 min) The most important part: whom to call, what not to switch off and why there is no need to be afraid to admit you clicked. The sooner a problem is known, the smaller the damage.
6. Questions and a quiz (20 min) A short practical test on spotting fraudulent e-mails, plus participants' questions.
What participants receive
- a one-page "10 rules for working safely" handout to print,
- a contact and procedure for reporting suspicious events,
- a certificate of completion, useful as evidence for GDPR, NIS2 or audits.
Optionally, after the workshop we prepare a simulated phishing campaign. A month later we send the team a harmless "fraudulent" e-mail and evaluate how many people click. The result shows where to continue.
Who it is for
The workshop is designed for teams of 5 to 60 people without their own IT department. It can take place at your company, in our office in Bratislava or online.
Date and price are agreed individually based on the number of participants. Write to us at info@datatek.sk with the subject "Workshop". If you want to start right away, see our security recommendations.
